We Love the 80's

It turns out my partying days are not over! kid or no kid i still love to go to a good party...I'm a sucker for social stuff...always have been.

I assumed we'd come away early havin a kid n'all but Anthony and I where one of the last to leave after 2am with an hours drive in front of us too! i was quite impressed with myself...but i did suffer the next day for it.

It was Becky's (my sis in law's) 30th birthday party, so since she was born in 1980, it was an 8O's themed party.

But while all the other girls came lookin colourful/poppy/sporty, fun lovin 80's like this:

I came looking like this:

Proper tacky Dynasty/Dallas style 80's or what?! ha!

I looked 'sick' as my friend Laura affectionately put it! I did love how disgustingly tacky i looked..i felt like one of those Glamour Grans you'd find in Vegas or somewhere!... which made dancing easier as i just did the floppy arm dance to go with the outfit! Iv noticed that about 'era' themed parties, you can get away with dancing like a nerd...because they did seem to dance a bit nerdy back in the day...i always watch the audience dancing when watching Top of the Pops 2 and whether its 60's,70'S or 80'S, they always dance nerdy don't they?!

I did both myself and Anthony on a budget...I found my fetching gold number in a charity shop in Hammersmith and I got Anthony a pair of white jeans from Primark (when all else fails go to Primark..tuns of cheap aluminous 80's stuff in there), I paired them up with some unfortunately coloured items in his wardrobe and he managed to pull off a camp kinda WHAM 80's style!

This photo makes me wanna sing 'pop goes my heart' from that cheesy 'music and lyrics' film!

We even styled our boy up as 80's as poss, with a punk hair do and I drew an ear ring on him with black eye liner! Am i a cruel mum?

However he slept most of the night...there was a room full of sleepin babies which I found rather funny! imagine if you picked the wrong baby up going home ha!

Check out some of the other 80's fro's

me and MC Hammer matched in our gold numbers!

March…finally a hint of spring, blue skies and fresh days!

We celebrated the life of Bill on Wednesday the 3rd of March, a beautiful funeral service where all his children spoke.

I had my first mothers day and Williams first trip up to Liverpool! William, it seems is very illiterate already as he wrote me some lovely words of thanks in a mother day card!

January brings the Snow, makes our feet and fingers glow!!

This January, Britain was known as ‘frozen Britain’ . We had the largest snow fall in 20 years and everyone was in a panic, its all the news could go on about for weeks! I unfortunately went home to Liverpool the first week of January and got snowed in up there for a week with my over protective father telling me I couldn't go out in case I slipped and fell on the ice!

He did have a point…I was 8 months pregnant, If I did fall I'm so round id probably just keep rolling until I became a giant snow ball..and roll all the way to wales where id start an avalanche!

Then on Friday the 22nd of January 2010 my waters broke and at 2:18 am on Saturday 23rd January our son William Albert Dixon was born.
He came two weeks early no doubt because of a stupidly over ambitious walk I went on the day before….which when I got home from I fell onto all fours and couldn't’t move for a while!

February………it worked out a blessing that William came early as it meant he could meet his Grandad Bill. Anthony’s dad had only been given weeks to live at the beginning of January, and consequently passed away peacefully on Friday the 19th of February. Anthony was an absolute star, going home often to see his dad and be with his family, whilst also supporting me and helping out loads with William.

Anthony became a dad and lost his dad all within four weeks. I think it was lovely that Anthony could name his son after his dad.

The year so far....

2010 began with a new years party at our house. Since Anthony had finished all thee flats and they were not (and are still not!) sold, we thought we'd take advantage of the space and live out the last of our partying days before the baby was born. So we invited a load of our friends to come and bring in the new year with us……Stephen Blomfield brought his karaoke along which made things rather hilarious!

Every one had to do a number… I did The Shoop Shoop song by Cher..actions n’ all…but found it quite tough, whilst so fat and preggers, to do the ‘hold him, kiss him’ action (you know the one where you turn your back to the audience and cross your arms around your body to hug yourself!)

Whats your Karaoke number? Everyone seems to have one they always do..Anthony loves ‘Goin up to the Spirit in the sky’ or ‘foot loose’, I was first introduced to his literally AWFULly funny karaoke style on our first date – we hired a karaoke room out at one of these Japanese places in London.

My all time fave is The Shoop Shoop song by Cher…only cos me and my two sisters had two cassette tapes growing up, Buddy Holly and Cher, and we’d burst out of our wardrobe with a hair brush of course singing to our favourite songs on the cassette tapes, one of us would be on the top bunk shining the lamp down as the spot light! Ha! But the shoop shoop song we’d all do, my older sis Jo would be Cher (because she had black hair!) and me and our Christine would be the two backing singers.
